Making a Spiritual Bath for Your Home and Body
Learn how to make a spiritual bath that cleanses your home, body, and soul in order to clear out the old and welcome in the new. #spiritualbath #homeenergy #energyhealing #pelvichealing
During this time, we are spending more time at home in times of Covid. In some ways, this feels good to our bodies, good to our souls, good to our feminine beings. To be in the comfort of our homes, with the people or things that make us feel safe and protected. However, for others this space loses that over time, or never had it in the first place. For me, as a home-body who loves my tiny little space in the downtown Philadelphia (I know, I’m such a cancer), the space starts to feel dull and stagnant from time to time (sometimes A LOT of the time). This space that holds all the “good” and “bad” is holding what we no longer want to. Yes, cleaning helps, absolutely-but sometimes our homes need a bit more support. Just like taking a bath makes us feel better, often times we need something more-maybe a bit more support from a healer, coach, therapist, or acupuncturist. This spiritual bath does just that. As we clear the energy in our homes, we can create more space to hold and welcome in the new; making this space not only more enjoyable but also a space to assist in our healing and well-being.
I invite you to use the following exercise, by Tami Lynn Kent in Wild Feminine. This sacred work has influenced a great deal of my healing practice, and I highly recommend you read this book for yourself. This practice is inspired by traditional healer Rosita Arvigo and her book Spiritual Bathing—to clarify the energy around your body and home.
1. Fill a bowl with water. Gather some leaves or flowers, particularly from those plants that you are drawn to-aromatic herbs and roses are always a good choice. As you gather the plant material, say a prayer asking in your own way for divine assistance. One at a time, place a flower petal or leaf into the water.
2. When you have finished gathering, look at the beauty created in this bowl. Notice the way each petal or leaf brings a color or shape to the water, just as your pelvic wounds and other experiences have touched and shaped your pelvic bowl.
3. Using your hands, squeeze the plant material into the water while saying a prayer. Ask for the healing, protection, cleansing, or blessing that is needed. As Rosita, in passing on the teaching of Maya healer Don Elijo, has shared: Trust with all your heart that the healing will come to you. Ask your root what else may assist the process of reclaiming the energy of your bowl. Take a moment of silence.
4. Home: Dip your fingers in the water and sprinkle the water around your home, clarifying the energy of each room. Gently sprinkle family members and pets if you feel the impulse!
Body: Dip your fingers into the water and moisten the skin over your womb, blessing the pelvic bowl. Bless any other areas of your body that are calling you. Using your wet fingertips, splash the air around your body (like a bird taking a bath)) to clear your energy field. Imagine this blessing extending out into your wild feminine landscape to bright all the energy that radiates from or comes into your center.
5. Pour this plant water onto the ground, giving thanks for the potential of regeneration present in your body and home, just as is held within the earth.
It can be wonderful to do this practice regularly. Especially, anytime you feel the energy is dull, stuck, or stagnant in your home or body. This ritual and the properties of the flowers and/or herbs are their own medicine. You’ll be surprised just how much your space will feel different following.
